There’s something special about creating patterns and textures that are unique yet useful. These beautiful pieces are made to last and tinted with a passion of tradition deeply connected to roots in a long lineage of woven items and other fiber arts.
Bethe Orrell, handweaver
From a long line of fiber artists, going back as far as 1753, I have continued the lineage of my ancestors. I started weaving in 1998 and have since become a well known weaver, dyer, knitter and spinner in New Mexico, my home.
From handwoven towels and other linens to beautiful throw blankets and rugs, I love pattern, color and texture in my woven cloth.
From 2013 to 2018 I had spent a few months weaving blankets for Ralph Lauren, But during the rest of the year on my other four looms I created cotton and/or linen hand towels, place mats, coasters, napkins, and table runners. Coming soon is the addition of throw blankets (custom orders only) and rugs. All of the rugs and blankets are made from Alpaca or Wool and sometime Linen warp in rugs. Towels, mats runners and napkins etc are always made with 100% cotton yarn, unless otherwise specified.
If you want to learn to weave, I would welcome you to my studio in New Mexico for a solid week to learn weaving and loominology from start to finish.
